The permission for ~/.ssh folder is set to 700, for ~/.ssh/authorized_keys to 600. I know it's that one by running dropbearkey -y -f /etc/dropbear/dropbear_rsa_host_key. I expect it to be my key from ~/.ssh/authorized_keys but instead I'm always seeing the dropbear's own public key (from /etc/dropbear/dropbear_rsa_host_key). As PUTTY negotiates the session encryption, it prompts to accept the public key provided by the server. I use PUTTYGEN to generate a pair of RSA-2048 keys, save the public key at ~/.ssh/authorized_keys on the router, then try to connect with PUTTY, which I've limited to RSA only. Having read many posts and howtos (including this one), I still can't get it working. I'm trying to enable passwordless SSH login on my ASUS RT-AC68U home router which runs version 384.4_2 of Asuswrt-Merlin firmware (the most recent one at the time of posting this). Introduced in version 386.3, this replaces the previous Policy Rules implementation by a global configuration where rules can be centrally managed instead of having to edit them for each individual client.Noseratio Asks: Paswordless public key-based SSH login on router with Asus Merlin firmware You can create rules based on their local or remote IP (or even both). VPN Director lets you create rules to determine how your LAN traffic is redirected through your OpenVPN clients. To add, the devices I want to put behind the VPN 24/7 dont have a VPN option (nvidia shield and 2 Sony Android TVs)ĪsusWrt Merlin GNUton's builds support RT-AX82U The only option the stock fw gives me is to put everything behind a VPN which I don't need. Reason I want it, if it works (or if there's another way of doing this) is so I can put specific devices behind a VPN at the router level. This router is actually a bestbuy exclusive and it's not in the list of supported models but was wondering if anyone has tried it in case the 82 is really the same as another one just a different model for bestbuy.
